That Wonderful Name

The name of the God of Jacob defend thee...and in the name of our God we will set up banners...Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.  They are  brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.   Save, Lord: let the king hear us when we call. (Psalm 20.1, 5, 7-9)   Trying to live our life as His children, without living in that name, is like having a car full of gas and pushing it every where we go.  There is power available in that name above all names - yet we must utilize it.  I do not mean simply speaking it.  I mean remembering it, trusting in it, and surrendering our life to it.  At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess...  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.  Need daddy? Cry Abba Father.  Need protection?  Signal the Captain of the Lord's Host.  Need to know your loved? Listen for the voice of your Bridegroom..he who is altogether lovely.  Need a friend?  Spend more time today with the Friend of Sinners.   Need to feel safe?  Run to the Savior.  Need a reminder how valuable you are?  Consider the Lamb slain before the foundation of the world for you.  Have any need, anytime, anywhere?    There's a name for that among His two-hundred-plus names.  He is the all-sufficient, infinite source of all we need.  Pray in it, plant it, meditate on it, share it, actively use it.  Call on That Wonderful Name.

What Makes His Desirables so Desirable?

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, much fine gold: sweeter also than the honeycomb.  (Psalm 19.10)  So what makes these undesirables of the world like God's law, testimony, statues, commandment, fear, judgments, righteousness; so desirable to us?  One of the greatest benefits of all of these characteristics in our Father, is the work they have against SIN.   By these desirables of the Father we are warned (.11a) of the hidden dangers of sin, better prepared for our future, forgiven of our past and filled with joy in the present.  When we keep his desirables in our mind and in our hearts, there is great reward (.11b) abundant blessings, plus we avoid the destruction that always accompanies rebellion.  One of the most important desirables of God is the understanding of errors and cleansing of our faults (11.12).   His desirables ...keep us from presumptuous sins... so that I shall be upright...I shall be innocent from the great transgression.  These really are the most desirables things in life for me today.  So Let the words of mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.  (19.14)
